Description
Come out and support charities one drink at a time. Visit cherritybar.com for details. Finally — a way to drink for a good cause. Actually, for many causes.
Introducing the Cherrity Bar, a creative, new way to raise money for nonprofits.
Here’s how it works: Each time patrons buy a drink, they receive a vote that they may cast for one of three featured nonprofits. The charity with the most votes at the end of the month receives profits from the bar.
Information about each charity is available on the bar’s website and on coasters that customers receive when they order drinks. Ideally, each nonprofit encourages its supporters to visit the Cherrity Bar each month.
The Tourette Association of America, will receive 10 percent of the proceeds every month. That’s an organization very close to the heart of partner David Malley. He and his wife, Pam, have a son with Tourette’s.
An advisory board with more than 20 members in the hospitality and nonprofits oversees the bar and the charities it works with.
It’s more than just a good cause. Because one of the partners is Jeret Peña, nationally famous for his notable bars in San Antonio, the cocktails, beer and wine selection is top-notch. In keeping with the theme, five cocktails are based on the city’s top five philanthropies. What’s more, the Cherrity Bar will feature all Texas wines and spirits.
The name combines the bar’s location on Cherry Street with its mission of supporting nonprofits.
