Description
Join District 9 Councilman John Courage and Gardopia to kick-off the Spring growing season by planting a Food Forest at Encino Library! Come have fun in San Antonio!
Event Details
Over 4 years in the making, the cherry on top of the Encino Library outdoor renovations and a Participatory Budget pilot project, the Encino Library Food Forest will be the first of it's kind on city property. Working with multiple stakeholders, the Food Forest will provide a prototype of what future development can look like in public spaces.
Consisting of 6 tree guilds contained in cedar raised beds, these plantings will provide perennial low maintenance landscaping that produces food for people and the ecosystem. Plantings include fruit and nut trees, berries, grapes, asparagus, artichokes, and pollinator plants! Join us from 10a - 11a to learn about the tree and plant varities selected, and to get your hands dirty! All guests will be gifted a 4.5 inch annual plant for their Spring gardens!
